A field guide to power outages
What the fireflies have spotted in DEER's announcements for its 18 counties since 26 October 2026.
Only finished outages are counted: those DEER no longer lists. The figures are rebuilt every night. Last count: 28 October 2026, 22:44 (Romanian time).
220 finished outages, in 557 places.
Spread over the whole time watched: one every 19 min.
3 days of watching so far. A careful naturalist would wait before drawing any conclusion from the figures below.

Hour by hour, in figures
Which weekday they prefer
No planned work started on Wednesdays, on Thursdays, on Fridays, on Saturdays and on Sundays. Most unplanned outages started on Wednesdays: 83.
Habitat: the 18 counties
Most finished outages: Prahova, 25. Fewest: Harghita, 1. These are plain counts: they do not account for how many people live in each county.
2 announcements could not be placed in any county, because their places were not recognised. They count in the total only.

Longest stay on DEER's list
An unplanned outage in Grădini, Mureș, and 8 more places. The figure is how long the announcement stayed listed, not necessarily how long the power was off.
- 8 h
Longest announced work
A planned work in Ady Endre, Satu Mare, by the times in the announcement.

Most starts in one day
Tuesday, 27 October 2026.
- 321 h 31 min
Hours of planned work, added up
End to end, more than 13 days and nights.
Where the fireflies glow
9 places watched by Licurici subscribers, in 2 counties.
3 of them appear in at least one finished outage since 26 October 2026. The place is in the announcement; the subscriber's street, not necessarily.
- CisnădioaraSibiu25–49 subscribers
- SibiuSibiu10–24 subscribers
- CisnădieSibiu5–9 subscribers
The other 6 places, by county
- Sibiu: 5 more
- Mureș: 1 more
A place is named from 5 subscribers up, and their number is shown only as a range. Only subscribers who receive alerts are counted, each once per place, however many streets they watch there. Someone watching an address does not necessarily live there.
How we count
- The source is DEER's public lists for the 18 counties. The outage list is read every 2 minutes, the planned-work list at most every 30 minutes. The data starts on 26 October 2026; there is nothing from before.
- An outage enters the figures once it is over, that is, once DEER no longer lists it. One removed from the list before its start time appears only under “Withdrawn before starting”: DEER does not say whether it was cancelled or moved.
- For planned works, the length is the announced one, from start time to end time; those with no end time are left out of the lengths. For unplanned outages, the length is how long they stayed on DEER's list: from the announced start (or, if there is none, the first reading that shows them) to the first reading without them. The list is read every 2 minutes, so that is the precision. Power can come back before the announcement disappears.
- “Typically” means the median: half of the outages lasted at most that long, half at least that long.
- “Favourite” means the most frequent hour or day, if it gathers at least twice its share under an even split. Otherwise it says “no clear favourite”.
- An outage naming 3 places counts once in each of them and only once in the total. The same goes for counties.
- Hours and days are in Romanian time.
